We went to Mongelli's for dinner. The menu has a lot of pasta dishes as well as chicken and veal. Prices start at around $10 for spaghetti and meatballs.
The building has large windows facing Speedway but it wasn't a distraction for us. The interior is very basic - concrete floor and large open room which would ordinarily be a negative for me, but it was not. The tables have white tablecloths and are set with cloth napkins which makes the interior look quite nice albeit not fancy.
Service was fast and friendly. Meals come with some nice italian bread and a soup and salad bar. The salad bar isn't huge but everything in it seemed to be of high quality. Real bacon instead of Bacos is a plus and the three choices of dressings all looked good. My wife had soup which was clam chowder (being Friday and all) and she said it was very good.
We each had ravioli. Mine was a cheese ravioli in a tomato sauce with a sweet italian sausage (ordered separately). My wife had a pesto ravioli with an alfredo sauce (special order). Both were well prepared, tasty, and well presented
We went there for the first time since they are in the Entertainment Book but won't hesitate to go back. Mongelli's is a great choice when you want pasta as they have many choices in that category (though are not limited to it). And you can "come as you are"!
